- The Amcathra family is ennobled in Waterdeep.[1]
- A number of Inner Sea pirates choose to retire to Aglarond, among them the infamous Redsail. They bring their immense booty with them, and in addition to spending big on carousing and introducing crime, they also invest extensively but secretly in legitimate local merchant shipping, businesses, and property. This reduces the southern coastal lands' mercantile dominance on Inner Sea trade.[2]
1142 DR in conflicts
- The pureblood yuan-ti mages of the Coiled Cabal awake after centuries and attempt to conquer the Cities of the Seabreeze, beginning with Sammaresh. Two dozen archmages of Tashluta and Lapaliiya battle them in a season of savage spell-battles along the Tashtan Coast, in conflict known as the Rage of Wizards. The cities of Lapaliiya and Tashalar suffer severe damage.[3]
Miscellaneous
- Shell House, a temple to Umberlee in Ilyaport, is destroyed amidst the Rage of Wizards. The Orglara, a relic that the Shell Priests of that temple kept safe, is sucked out to sea by a great wave.[4]
- Anger over the Rage of Wizards in Lapaliiya sees a corresponding rise in respect for priests, leading to the establishment of the civic faiths that dominate each city.[3]
- The Skeletal Finger thieves guild steals the monocle of Bagthalos from the House of the Steadfast, a Helmite temple in Zazesspur.[5]
- 2–3 Marpenoth: A group of adventurers chase down a drow slaving expedition near Rothé Valley, and discover the area has long been used as a trap by House Xorlarrin to lure in settlers for eventual enslavement. The adventuring party is lost in the tunnels beneath the valley before they can report their findings to the world.[6]
