1290 DR in conflicts
- A Calishite wizard called Ithtaerus Casalia plots to steal the riches of Dragonspear Castle, which is held by Daeros Dragonspear and his dragon companion Halatathlaer. Ithtaerus forces the dragon into a magical sleep, then tricks Daeros into sacrificing his own life and opening a portal to the hell of Avernus. Devils invade the castle, and are fought by Daeros's followers. Meanwhile, Ithtaerus loots Halatathlaer's hoard, but then goes on to lure three ambitious young dragons with news that Halatathlaer and his wealth are vulnerable. The dragons kill Halatathlaer and then each other, in the process obliterating much of the castle. The survivor, the black dragon Sharndrel, kills Ithtaerus in revenge before leaving.[1]
- Trolls and goblinoids out of the High Moor raid the ruined and decimated Dragonspear Castle. Other wicked mages and bandits follow them. Soon, all Daeros's followers are killed or quit the castle.[1]
1290 DR in politics
- A well-known warrior known as Elfrin constructs a small keep beside the High Road, west of what is later Kheldell. Elfrin declares himself king and lays claim to all lands within a day's ride of his keep.[1]
