- The green dragon Aglaraerose and the red dragon Klauth devour a horde of orcs in the Spine of the World mountains.[1]
- House Baenre destroys House Do'Urden of Menzoberranzan by the mandate of Lolth.[2]
- A group of good-aligned dragons aligned with the Lords of Waterdeep, under the leadership of a woman calling herself Taunamorla Esmurla, are nearly outed but manage to retain their secret identities with aid from Mirt the Moneylender and Durnan.[3]
Deaths in 1339 DR
- Aumry, Lord of Shadowdale, is assassinated by Zhentarim agents.[4][5]
- Sharra Frohm disappears after entering the Great Glacier and is presumed dead. [6]
1339 DR in politics
- Jyordhan kills Aumry's murderers and retrieves the Pendant of Ashaba, claiming rulership over Shadowdale.[4][5]
- Samas Kul is made Master of the Guild of Foreign Trade in Thay.[5]
- The Eighth Emperor Chin of Shou Lung launches the Gathering of Pearls effort as the centerpiece of his reign. Old capital cities are excavated and expeditions are made to retrieve lost tomes and artifacts. The Shou also bring territories in the north and west back under imperial rule, and extend diplomatic relations and trade with Kozakura and Wa. The port of Akkaido in Wa, where restrictions on foreigners and lessened, consequently enjoys growing foreign trade.[5]
- In T'u Lung, the nobles fear that the Gathering of Pearls aims to isolate their own nation in international affairs. Thus, T'u Lung welcomes traders, and sends its own diplomatic missions to Wa, Kozakura, and Tabat.[5]
