- Barbarians from the Ride intercept a Zhentarim caravan headed for Glister and destroy them.[1][2]
- Gondegal, also known as "The Usurper King" and "The Lost King", aided by a mercenary army, attempts to establish a kingdom centered in the city of Arabel in northern Cormyr. He is overthrown after only eight days in power by the standing army of Cormyr, the Purple Dragons, led by King Azoun IV. Gondegal escapes.[3][2]
- Agents of Lord Daigar Rosznar of Amn set fire to several Waterdhavian properties owned by the steel dragon Jalanvaloss, who in retaliation slays a pair of juvenile blue dragons employed by the Rosznars.[4]

- Wai Gada Shinzu, ruler of T'u Lung, has twin sons, Wai Anku and Wai Soreti. A variety of families, factions, and cults immediately try to take sides, giving presents to one or the other of the two sons.[2]
- Akimatsu Gonijo is crowned emperor of Kozakura[6] when his father Akimatsu Gokammu retires from the post.[7]
