- In Merrydale, Jander Sunstar, while in a combat with vampires, is betrayed by a previously transformed friend and is transformed into a vampire himself.[1][note 1]

- ↑ The date of this event is based on the passage on page 37 of the Villains' Lorebook which states "before the Mists took him...he was a vampire for 500 years in the Realms." On page 36 it says that Jander was transported to the Demiplane of Dread in 1098 DR, therefore giving his turning date as roughly 598 DR. However, the vampire infestation of Merrydale occurred in 796 DR according to The Grand History of the Realms, page 103. These dates seem irreconcilable without further information.
