944 DR in conflicts
- The Ffolk are victorious in repelling a giant and firbolg incursion in Myrloch Vale. The Sword of Cymrych Hugh is carried off by surviving firbolgs.[1]
Deaths in 944 DR
- High King Tanner Cymrych of the Moonshae Isles is killed battling the firbolg chieftain.[1][2]
944 DR in politics
- The Ffolk capitulate to the Illuskan invading settlers, ceding the northern Moonshae Isles to "the Northmen".[1] This marks the end of the reign of the High Kings.[2]
- The heir of the last High King Tanner, Niall, changes the family name from Cymrych to Carrathal as he assumes rule only over the realm of Callidyrr.[2] Following suit, the various other noble families of the Moonshaes begin to change the spellings and pronunciations of their surnames to distance themselves from the Cymrych name, giving rise to the distinct Cambridge, Cyric, Kendrick, Kimball, Kincaid, Riker, and Selkirk families.[3]
