- Derro tribes across the Northdark gather in the Uniting War against the duergar of Gracklstugh. They slay King Barthorn V. His successor, King Tarngardt VII, responds with a crusade to eradicate the derro. The duergar enslave several hundred derro and take them back to Gracklstugh.[1]
972 DR in organizations
- Following its defeat in Surkh by the church of Tiamat in 971 DR, halting its southward expansion, the Cult of the Dragon refocuses attention on the north. Over the next twenty-three years, the cult establishes at least ten new cells, but fails to infiltrate Silverymoon.[1]
- Following their failure in Surkh, disgruntled Cult members begin openly criticizing the leadership of Algashon and the heavy involvement of the church of Bane in Cult activity. The mage Tuelhalva Drakewings emerges as a prominent opponent of Bane's role in the Cult.[1]
