- Whipmistress Superior Jalrathae is defeated by the High Holy Temptress Lauraera Dlarayna after Jalrathae wrests control of a dozen temples of Loviatar using the Lash of Loviatar.[1]
- King Mhoaran the Tusk-Bearded of Tethyr dies.[2]
974 DR in politics
- Castle Waterdeep is completed on Higharvestide. It has been over a decade in construction, work having started in 963 DR.[3][4][5] Laroun, the first female War Lord of Waterdeep, installs herself in the castle.[5]
- In the Moonsea, the settlement that grew up around the stronghold of former adventurer Sulass Drowsbane is incorporated, becoming the city of Sulasspryn.[5]
- Nearel succeeds his father Mhoaran as King of Tethyr.[2]
