Adrik Commorand was a sorcerous mercenary in the late 14th century DR operating in the Unapproachable East.[2]
Personality[]
Adrik argued constantly with Erik about magic.[2] Even without his brother, he was very talkative and curious, excited about ancient magic and about almost any topic. He was learned on matters of extradimensional spaces.[3]
He was brave enough to linger even after the defeat of a force he participated in,[4] and his curiosity drew him to overstay his commission with Raidon in order to visit Sildëyuir.[5]
Even in near-death, he could not tamp down on his enthusiasm for different topics.[6]
Abilities[]
Adrik could cast a spell to null an enemy red wizard's flight.[7] He could also throw fireballs,[1] cone of cold[8], and a spell similar to light.[6]
Activities[]
Adrik was a mercenary sorcerer[2] and adventuring seeker of magical lore, plundering tombs, studying esoteric topics, and witnessing magic far and wide.[3]
Relationships[]
Adrik and his brother mostly traveled together.[3] He had had a childhood love who died from a disease.[9]
History[]
Adrik became an adventurer after his childhood love, Chelsea, died from a disease.[9]
He formed part of a caravan's guard in winter of 1375 DR, on the path from Telflamm to Emmech.[2] While part of that caravan, he helped repel a Red Wizard patrol.[7]
After the caravan reached Emmech, he took a commission with Raidon Kane, a half-elf monk and his fellow guard in the caravan. Though he did not have much gold, the monk had enough to afford one brother alone for two tendays; Adrik was also interested in visiting the Yuirwood. His brother Erik remained in Emmech, looking for a ship to take the two brothers across the Sea of Fallen Stars.[3] In Relkath's Foot, Adrik tried the rootweal wine, and found himself passed out not long after.[10]
Adrik and Raidon joined the force in Relkath's foot going into the offensive against Stardeep. Even though the force was defeated, the two of them lingered.[4] He later joined Kiril Duskmourn, hoping to visit Sildëyuir.[5] In Sildëyuir, Adrik took in the vistas eagerly.[11]
When they came across Moonveil Citadel, they were attacked by a summoned fire elemental and its nilshai masters. He was poisoned; Kiril took them to visit the Edgewarden in order to find healing. Unfortunately, the edgewarden could only slow the poison down, not stop it.[8] While they sought entry into Stardeep through its Underdungeon, Adrik was disabled, being too weak to fight back effectively against the revived fossils they found. [12] He died of his wounds not long after.[9] He was buried at Callambea in the Underdungeon, together with the dead of a company of Empyrean Knights.[13]
