Agannazar's scorcher is a semi common fire-type attack spell that creates a destructive jet of flame.[1]
History
Agannazar's scorcher was created by the wizard Agannazar.[2] This spell was found in the pamphlet Volo's Guide to All Things Magical, published in 1359 DR[3], and has seen wide use by the Red Wizards of Thay[4] and battle mages across Faerûn.
Distribution and Popularity
This spell was originally known to be inscribed on the first page of the Tome of the Covenant, a spellbook created by the four founders of the Covenant, and Agannazar is known to have given the spell to his apprentices.[2] The Red Wizards also got their hands on it and were known to use it shortly after Agannazar's death. The spell is well-known among elven battlemages, who have been known to craft magic rings of fire with it with command word of fete.
Magelord Rimmen of the Scarlet Eye, the sun elf wizard Meraera, the energetic explorer known as Xara Tantlor, the Moonstar Kyriana Agrivar, Gromph Baenre, and Pharaun Mizzrym were believed to know this spell.
