Alders were a type of tree that could be found in the Realms.[note 1]
Habitats[]
- In Cormanthor, alders grew in the midwood area of the forest.[1]
- In the Unapproachable East, alders were common across the nation of Aglarond, especially near the rivers and marshlands of the Yuirwood.[2] They were also cultivated on tree plantations in Thay, where they were harvested by slaves.[3]
- In Icewind Dale, a variety of alder with a bright red underside to the bark could be found.[4]
Usages[]
Red alder bark was used in various medicines, potions, and incense.[4]

Notes[]
- ↑ The existence of alder trees in the Realms is questionable due to a conflicting statement in the footnotes on page 59 of Volo's Guide to All Things Magical, a newer publication. It states that "alder, boxwood, the plane tree, redwood, and sycamore" are absent from the Realms.
