The Arabellan Palace was the home of the ruler of Arabel in Cormyr.[1]
Description[]
The palace was luxurious to behold.[3] It had five narrow towers, with elegantly sweeping turrets and conical roofs.[1] The palace contained the court of Myrmeen Lhal and an assembly hall.[2][4][5][6][7]
Location[]
The palace was located in the most prosperous section of the city,[3] the north,[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][note 1] being surrounded by the citadel and multiple mansions of the rich elite[1][3] and by the Lady's House, a temple to Tymora.[1]
Defenses[]
Soldiers of the Purple Dragons were stationed as palace guards.[8] These were members of the city's garrison, which was under the command of Myrmeen Lhal.[9]
Several floors of the palace were also warded by ring wards.[10]
Services[]
Guests of the king were usually housed nearby in the Dragon's Rest instead of in the palace.[8][10]

Notes[]
- ↑ The compass rose on maps of Arabel may point either to the top or left of the page, because of an error that was repeated in publications, making directions confusing. However, it is very clear from in-text descriptions of the locations of gates—such as Eastgate, for example—of buildings, and of roads in the city that north should be to the left of the earliest maps, which were republished in most sourcebooks.
