Asenath was a powerful sorceress and former slave who went on a lifelong war against the Red Wizards of Thay.[1]
History[]
At the height of her crusade, Asenath found herself mourning her lover, a Rashemi barbarian who had been cut down by those serving the Thayvian School of Conjuration. She had seen her father and lover killed by the relentless Thayans, and she swore she would destroy them before they could harm someone else close to her. To this end, she took a spear off a Thayan guard and washed it in the blood of her lover. Next, she swore to the deity Assuran, that she would act with hostility towards the forces of Thay and all who supported them. After that promise, her newfound spear was hit with three bolts of lightning in succession, with the final bolt launching Asenath down the mountainside. Damaged but alive, Asenath rose with the smoking spear in her hands—now the weapon that would later be called Vengeance of Asenath.[1]
After her disappearance, the power of Asenath's spellcasting ability was muttered about by the Red Wizards of Thay, but mention of the bite of her deadly spear was still able to send shivers down the spines of the most experienced conjurers in their ranks.[1]
