Basset hounds were a breed of domestic dog found in the Realms.[2][3]
Description[]
In terms of dogs, a basset hound was considered to be of medium size, though they had rather short legs.[1]
History[]
Circa 1370's DR, basset hounds were among the many breeds of puppies being sold in Ravens Bluff by the pet store You Can Buy Love. Unbeknownst to the public, these puppies were all once rats that had been transformed by the owners with a wand of polymorph.[2]
Notable Basset Hounds[]
- Butch, a basset hound that was left petrified in hidden Zhent chambers beneath Ravens Bluff for an indeterminate length of time.[3]
- Fredrick, a basset hound owned by Scartia Krutz, a tax collector in the Barovian village of Orașnou.[4]
