The Bent Nail was a carpentry shop on Trollskull Alley in the North Ward of Waterdeep.[1]

Location[]

The building was located on a corner next to the northeast entry to the alley from Saerdoun Street, in front of a ground entrance to the Waterdhavian sewer system.[3][4]

Structure[]

The shop's main door had a small bare wooden sign that had only a large bent nail sticking out of it.[1]

Interior[]

The front room of the shop displayed several pieces of ornate wooden furniture, bows and crossbows. Behind the counter, high quality canes, quarterstaffs, and shields lined the wall.[1]

Services[]

The shop sold a full selection of wooden weapons and shields, as well as furniture and finely carved wood sculptures.[1]

At the upper floors, rooms were available for rent.[2]

Inhabitants[]

By the mid‒14th century DR, the wizard Avaereene rented rooms above the shop. She kept her workbook of spells hidden under the floor of one of the rooms.[2]

By 1492 DR,[note 1] the shop was owned by the half-elf Talisolvanar Fellbranch, who was also its chief artisan.[1]

Notes[]

  1. Canon material does not provide a year for the events described in Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, but Christopher Perkins answered a question via Twitter and stated the year was 1492 DR. Corroborating this, Dragon Heist page 20 refers to events of Death Masks (set in 1491 DR) as being "last year". Unless a canon source contradicts this assertion, this wiki will use 1492 DR for events related to this sourcebook and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (which is referenced on pages 5 and 98 of Dragon Heist).
