Blacktongue, also known as blacktongue fever, was a well-known disease in Faerûn, and was one of the so-called Five Fevers.[1][2][3]
Acquisition[]
Blacktongue was transmissible through ingesting the disease. Symptoms manifested within four days.[1]
Effects[]
Sufferers of blacktongue experienced fever[1][2] and a steady loss of their mobility and reflexes.[1] While a healthy individual could fight off the disease in a matter of days,[1][4] blacktongue could ultimately be fatal as the sufferer's tongue turned black and swelled to fill their mouth.[5]
History[]
Ilisar, the Waterdhavian tailor for whom Ilisar's Alley was named, died of blacktongue.[3]
