Described as the darkness between the stars, Bolothamogg was a primal, non-physical entity or force that existed as a guardian of the outer dimensions. It ensured that nothing departed the multiverse and "tainted" the true reality outside.
It was honored by the aboleths by including large gaps and empty spaces in their architecture and facades and by building large open buildings that lacked roofs, such as coliseums.
As part of a suggested campaign concept, Lords of Madness: The Book of Aberrations page 28 proposes Bolothamogg as an alternative name for Yog-Sothoth from the stories of H. P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos.
