The Brownie language was the racial language of brownies, a type of fey.[1][2]
Speakers[]
Beyond brownies themselves, Brownie was a common secondary language in Faerûn among forest gnomes, lightfoot halflings, rock gnomes, and tallfellow halflings.[3] Beyond demihumans, Brownie was also commonly spoken by other fey creatures, such as dobies,[4] grigs,[5] killmoulis,[1] quicklings,[6] and stwingers.[7] And elven cats who attached themselves to brownie families typically spoke Brownie to a rudimentary degree.[8]
Brownie was also common as a secondary language among druids devoted to certain nature deities.[9][10][11][12][13] Such as the druids of Chauntea,[9][14] druids of Eldath,[10] druids and druid/rangers of Mielikki,[11] the druids of Silvanus,[12] and the druids of Sheela Peryroyl.[13] Other forms of specialty priests in the Realms for whom Brownie was a commonly known secondary language were the Eldathyn peacemen.[10]
