Candlesticks were candleholders designed to hold a single candle. They could be found in many buildings and temples across the Realms, serving both a decorative and religious function.[1][2] When designed to hold more than one candle, they were known as a candelabra.[1]
Description[]
Candlesticks varied greatly in size, shape, and the material used in their construction. Some came with small glass hoods to prevent the flame from being snuffed out by wind.[1]
Availability[]
- Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue sold a wide variety of candlesticks under its "Illumination"[2] and "Priest's Alcove" sections.[1] Under the "Illumination" section the Catalogue offered candlesticks carved out of wood (4 sp), ones made from lathe-turned brass or copper (6 sp; 8 sp), ones made from kiln-glazed clay (3 sp), large ones made from wrought iron (3 gp), or candlesticks carved from either carnelian, onyx, or soapstone (1 gp).[2] Under its "Priest's Alcove" section the Catalogue offered candlesticks made of either gold or silver. They came in hand-held versions, costing 3 gp and 5 sp respectively, or stationary 1 ft (0.3 m) tall versions that cost 20 and 12 gp respectively. They also offered hooded versions of the hand-held candlesticks for 7 gp and 1 gp respectively.[1]
- The Glow Shop in Ravens Bluff sold candlesticks made of brass or wood, but sometimes offered ones made of unusual or precious materials for a higher price.[3]
Notable Users[]
- Candlesticks were generally favored by various clerics and priests.[1]
- Sparkrender, a blue dragon wyrmling that had a fondness for candlesticks.[4]
