Medium size was defined differently in different editions of Dungeons & Dragons:
- 1st edition: 5 ft (1.5 m) to 7 ft (2.1 m) tall, approximately the size of a human. [1]
- 2nd edition: Larger than 4 ft (1.2 m) up to 7 ft (2.1 m).[2]
- 3rd/3.5 edition: Between 4 ft (1.2 m) and 8 ft (2.4 m).[3]
- 5th edition: Occupied an area of 5 ft (1.5 m) by 5 ft (1.5 m),[4] taller than 5 ft (1.5 m).[5]
