Sort[]

I don't think deities should be sorted by Lastname, Firstname like we do for people. All the source books list them alphabetically by their first name and readers will expect to see that same order here. Thoughts? —Moviesign (talk) 12:40, October 11, 2015 (UTC)

I am not against this idea... but what about deities who were mortal, such as Kelemvor Lyonsbane or Finder Wyvernspur? - Darkwynters (talk) 15:40, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
Well, Kelemvor Lyonsbane redirects to Kelemvor, so all his categories are already sorted under "K" because no one has added a DEFAULTSORT to a page with a single-word name. Finder is the opposite, redirecting to Finder Wyvernspur, so all his categories are sorted under "W" because of the DEFAULTSORT. We could use the sortkey to order the deity-related categories by first name and the non-deity related categories by last name. For example:

But that is a lot of work. I'd rather just take off the DEFAULTSORT from deity pages. Adding the sortkey for their mortal-related categories is an option. I'd like to hear more opinions on this. I want to stay consistent, but also serve the reader in the best way. —Moviesign (talk) 18:34, October 11, 2015 (UTC)
I kind of like this last idea of Movie's.
In any case, we need to put this sort of stuff down in our policies.

Putting a sortkey in the category will override DEFAULTSORT for that category, so only some will need sortkeys, the rest can work off DEFAULTSORT, i.e. (assuming a DEFAULTSORT is not set):

So, it's easier. I think we need only do it for deities who were former mortals, most of the rest with two-word names seem to be titles or double-barrelled first names. That leaves us with Kelemvor, Finder, and Gwaeron Windstrom, I think. As a god, Kelemvor Lyonsbane is only called Kelemvor, while the other two keep their full names, hence the different treatment. — BadCatMan (talk) 11:58, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
So are we in agreement? Remove DEFAULTSORT from deities with two names and override the sortkey for mortal-related categories? —Moviesign (talk) 12:40, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
Sounds like a great idea :) - Darkwynters (talk) 15:39, October 12, 2015 (UTC)
Sounds like it. I'll get the bot onto it later to strip out the categories. — BadCatMan (talk) 01:28, October 13, 2015 (UTC)
