The Chest of the Fallen Reign was a set of enchanted light armor from the Jungles of Chult, created sometime in or before the late 15th century DR.[1]
Powers[]
Besides offering its wearer a boon of improved defense, vitality, battle prowess, and the improved abilities of penetrating enemy armor and devastatingly powerful lucky attacks, this set of armor also provided the wearer with special magical empowerments with each enemy killed. Once the wearer ended an enemy's life, an endowment from the dead appeared nearby and, once touched, it offered a random beneficial boon to the wearer or one of their allies.[1]
History[]
In the late 15th century DR, as the death curse ravaged Faerûn, the famed author Volothamp Geddarm found himself in the Hunter's Square in Port Nyanzaru, a city in Chult. As he was working on Volo's Guide to Monsters, Volo enlisted the aid of adventurers from the north to hunt down and slay a collection of powerful beasts of legend and report to him with their experiences and loot. One of the creatures was the Tyrant, a mighty tyrannosaurus zombie. When the creature was defeated, the Chest of the Fallen Reign was offered to the heroes as a reward.[1]
