Chipmunks were diminutive cousins of the larger squirrels, which would burrow into the ground rather than climb trees in the forests where they lived.[2]
Description[]
They were small creatures usually found in forests. They had excellent hearing and eyesight.[2] Likewise they were very good at sneaking and hiding from danger.[1]
Ecology[]
Chipmunks were encountered in many parts of Faerûn, from the Sword Mountains not far from Dumathoin's Gulch,[3] to the Winterglen forest on the Moonshae Isles,[4] and deeper inland in the Farsea and Tun Marshes in Cormyr.[5]
Relationships[]
Some citizens of Waterdeep were known to have chipmunk pets that they carried along during their days.[6] Gnomeish sorcerers and wizards too got in on the trend and would take chipmunks as their familiars, owing to their love of burrowing creatures.[1]
Herds of chipmunks would sometimes be kept as livestock by Buckawn communities.[7]
Chipmunks were a favored animal of the deity Garl Glittergold.[8]
History[]
In the church of Baervan Wildwanderer, "Chipmunk" was one of the titles for confirmed priests, ranking as the lowest position one could have.[9]
