Citadel Ankhalus was a keep located in the marshlands of Thar, in the Moonsea North region of North Faerûn, up until the mid–13th century DR. It was the base of the Masked Wizards of Ankhalus.[2]
Geography[]
It was located in the western region Thar, north of the Vanishing Hills, just southeast of Glumpen Swamp.[1][3]
History[]
In the Year of the Vigilant Fist, 1259 DR, the Zhentilar took action against the Masked Wizards of Ankhalus after suffering several attacks on their outposts at the wizards' hands. They attacked and defeated the group once and for all at the Battle of the Masks. Lord Theilon of Zhentil Keep was killed during the fighting, and Citadel Ankhalus was reduced to a half-melted ruin by summoned lava.[2][4]
