Combat readiness was a spell that enabled the subject to act more rapidly in combat.[1]

When the spell was cast, the subject's eyes widened and briefly shone white. Thereafter, until the spell's duration ended in a minute or more, the subject gained an increased reaction time at the beginning of a combat encounter.[1]
The subject was also better able to defend against adversaries in flanking positions.[1]
