The Company of the Chimera was a mercenary company of Sembia in the late 14th century DR.[1]
Organization[]
The captain of the company was Tombli, a duergar halfblood. They numbered roughly one hundred.[2]
Activities[]
While they may have taken up other tasks before, they were so disastrous at guard duty that their wardenship had once been described as worse than rampant brigandry.[1]
Relationships[]
The company had allies throughout Sembia and the Dales.[2]
History[]
In Marpenoth of the Year of Wild Magic, 1372 DR, the Company of the Chimera was contracted to guard a 20‑mile (32‑kilometer) stretch of the Dawnpost highway and a Sembian waystation by some moneyed interest from that country. By Marpenoth 21, they had spent two tendays stationed at the Inn of the Seven Silvers. That day, there was an altercation between the captain, Tombli, and one of his warriors, the Uthgardt barbarian Saskia.[1]
By the next day, Saskia had fled the company after helping free the pseudodragon Aeristhax, which Tombli had purchased from a passing merchant; she fully believed the company would pursue her north.[2]
