Consuming Darkness was a magical ring found in Cormyr in the mid-1480s DR.[1][note 1]
Description[]
Despite being made of gold, the ring appeared as if a completely black silhouette, shedding or reflecting no light at all.[1]
Powers[]
Consuming Darkness granted the wearer an increased ability in the fields of discombobulating and assassinating their targets.[1]
History[]
The ring was taken from the treasury of the Shadovar Archwizard Amskar's flying glacier enclave by Cormyrean forces as they attacked it. The battle destroyed the enclave and the army upon it, but Consuming Darkness was one of the treasures recovered intact.[1]

Notes[]
- ↑ Menace of the Underdark (including Web of Chaos) is dated to the period of 1484–1485 DR, as it references the ongoing Darkening. Shadowfell Conspiracy (including Disciples of Shadow, Shadow Under Thunderholme, The Druid's Deep, and The High Road of Shadows) are dated to the same period, as they are stated to take place at roughly the same time as Menace of the Underdark.
