Crossed Swords was a tavern in the Central Port of Skullport in the late 14th century DR.[1]

Structure[]

Crossed Swords was a one-story building in fair condition.[1]

Services[]

The establishment was owned and operated by a group of professional duelists who hired out their services for combat. Their motivations ranged from defending a client's honor or settling a vendetta to pursuing trivial grievances, provided sufficient payment was offered.[1]

The duelists' fees were scaled according to the danger of the engagement. However, they maintained strict boundaries regarding whom they challenged. Entities such as dragons, beholders, and illithids were excluded, as were the Skulls of Skullport and recognized authorities in Skullport, including high-ranking members of the Iron Ring, prominent smugglers, powerful wizards, and drow of House Tanor'Thal.[1]

The tavern itself offered alcohol primarily to accommodate its duelists and to facilitate the negotiation and conclusion of contracts. Drink prices were high, though the selection of foreign wines was notable for both quality and variety.[1]

Inhabitants[]

In 1370 DR, the leader of the duelists was Kenth.[1]
