The Cry of Joy was a temple of Lliira situated in the small city of Hill's Edge.[1]
Structure[]
This temple resembled a castle, but was no larger than a prosperous manor. It sported high stone walls and such castle trappings as a portocullis and turrets. The latter were adorned with banners bearing the colors and symbol of the Church of Lliira.[1]
Services[]
The temple's coffers were filled by them brewing an excellent blackbitter ale and chapbook amorous adventures, anonymously penned by members of the clergy, which were both exported all across Faerûn.[1]
Besides those currency making ventures, the temple was known to hold wild festivals where all who lived in Hill's Edge were invited. These festivals typically had music provided by the Harpers, as well as covert security.[1]
Inhabitants[]
This temple was inhabited by a large clergy of beautiful priestesses who were quite acrobatic and good at singing. In the mid-14th century DR the temple was led by a young, enthusiastic priestess named Joybringer Caseldown. All members of this clergy dressed in robes bearing the colors and symbol of the Church of Lliira.[1]
Reputation[]
The clergy of this temple provided much of the gaiety in Hill's Edge, though some were known to cattily and spitefully remark that people only went to their festivals for the free alcohol as well as easy lovemaking. The latter of which often being remarked by local escorts, who considered the festivals bad for their business.[1]
Rumors & Legends[]
Around 1367 DR, there were rumors circulating around Hill's Edge that the head of this temple had strange magical powers.[1]
