Cucumbers were grown in the lands of Faerûn,[2][3][4] Kara-Tur,[1] and Zakhara,[5][6]
In Sembia, cucumbers were a typical crop grown in a family-run farm,[7][8] often grown in the same farm plot as other vegetables.[8]
In Zakhara, crops of cucumbers and other vegetables were grown around the House Fajirik military camp on the Empty Glass Battlefield.[9]
Selling[]
In the late 1300s DR, cucumbers were among the fruits and vegetables sold by the grocer Jack from a stall in the marketplace of Ravens Bluff in the Vast, at three for 5 sp.[10]
Cucumbers were also sold by grocers in the marketplace of Westgate around 1486 DR.[11]

Culinary[]
- Cucumbers could be made into pickles.[12]
- Cucumber medallions in vinegar were a common feature of the eveningfeast menu in high-class eateries.[13]
- Feldepost's Inn, an old establishment in the town of Beregost, served cheese-and-cucumber buns.[2]
- Cucumber sandwiches were served at Rose's Tea Room in Ravens Bluff. They had just a little too much vinegar.[4][14]
- In Fendarl's Gate, cold cucumber soup was the current favorite of its lord, Eldebuck Thorm Fendarl, around 1366 DR.[3]
- A juiced and peppered cucumber sauce was available at the Old Stonebows inn in Archendale.[15]
- Turtleback soup included cucumber medallions; this was served at Blackthorn's Brew in Velen, Tethyr.[16]
- Quails in nut sauce with garlic cucumbers was a dish served to the wealthy in Cursrah during the time of the Calim Empire.[17]
- Cucumber ricotta torte with smoked salmon and caviar was on the menu at Umbrel's Hot Tarts in Ravens Bluff.[18]
- Zakharans enjoying fried crimson battan in a mixture that included cucumber juice.[5]
- In Sigil, complimentary bowls of cucumber soup were given to guests of the Slumbering Lamb boarding house.[19]
Medicine[]
- Besides being used as food, some used cucumbers in the treatment of inflammation.[20]
Races & Sentient Creatures[]
- Kappas, a race of creatures native to Kara-Tur, were quite fond of cucumber and melon and might be appeased by being given some.[21][22][23]
Rumors & Legends[]
In the legend of Pariza and the Talking Bird told in Huzuz in Zakhara, the Grand Caliph Akbar al-Assad was served a cucumber stuffed with pearls as a demonstration.[6]
