D&D Beyond is a companion application and toolset designed for use with the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons.
Description[]
The application allows players to browse digital versions of D&D source materials such as rulebooks and materials, as well as provides various tools assisting with the gameplay mechanics of Dungeons & Dragons, including a character builder and sheet manager, combat tracker and virtual tabletop maps.
In addition to digitized versions of physical source media, some digital content pertaining to the Forgotten Realms has been released exclusively on the platform.
History[]
The service was originally released in 2017 by Curse, as an alternative to the previously existing D&D Insider service created by Wizards of the Coast. In 2018 Curse had been acquired by Fandom. Later in 2022 D&D Beyond was purchased by Hasbro (the parent company of WotC), and eventually became the official companion app for Dungeons & Dragons.
