Dark Suns is an adventure module set in Malatra – Living Jungle using the Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition ruleset. It is part of the Living Jungle series of adventures published for the RPGA Network and a crossover with RPGA Dark Sun series of adventures.

A journey to a strange land. A quest for learning, so says Roshink, the earth elemental noble. "You will see what magic can do if it runs amok. You will see what beings as callous as the Tamara can do to a land, when they can ravage unchecked. Seek out this knowledge, and return wiser, and better able to fight for your lands”. An adventure for heroes of all levels.

Summary[]

In The Year of Despair, Roshink, an earth elemental noble transported a group of the heroes of the Living Jungle to the world of Athas. The dying world was the fate that was to become Malatra's unless the Tamara were stopped. The heroes were to experience the horror firsthand. Right after transportation, they fell into the hands of that world's slaver elves and had to figure a way out of the cages before the heroes would end up sold into slavery and never see Malatra ever again. They managed to escape with the help from a thri-kreen named Ka'cha and escaped as the elven caravan was ravaged by a sink worm. Ka'cha escorted the group to his tribe – Windrunners, who gifted them supplies and pointed toward the way out of the dying world – a great tree in the Ringing Forest. Subsequently, they met Miralte the Wolf, the leader of a peaceful oasis town called The Last Oasis, and were ambushed by Athasian halfling cannibals. Luckily, the ambush in the Ringing Forest ended up transferring the heroes across the Dreamlands back to Malatra and to Roshink.

Notes[]

  1. The events of the Living City Ravens Bluff and the Living Jungle campaigns took place on a timeline that advanced together with the real world's time. Even though all Living City/Living Jungle adventures were dated with real-world dates and year names on the Malatran calendar, there were events that received a DR year. The Living City timeline can be derived from Myrkyssa Jelan's historic events of the late 14th century DR. Myrkyssa Jelan attacked Ravens Bluff in 1370 DR, according to The City of Ravens Bluff and Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting 3rd edition; these events are chronicled in an in-and-out of universe issues of Ravens Bluff Trumpeter. This places the real world year 1997 as 1370 DR, and in 1998 (1371 DR). As the real world's months and the Calendar of Harptos are virtually identical, we can also date all events of the Living City Ravens Bluff as close as an in-universe month. Using that data, we can use the Legacy of the Headshrinker to date the Living Jungle adventures. The adventure features Malatran heroes traveling to the Vast and meeting several player character from the Living City campaign. Legacy of the Headshrinker takes place in 2000 – The Year of Great Change, which correlates with 1373 DR. This means other named years in the Living Jungle campaign can receive a DR conversion: The Year of Awakening (1995) – 1368 DR;The Year of Discovery (1996) – 1369 DR;The Year of New Peoples (1997) – 1370 DR;The Year of Gathering Darkness (1998) – 1371 DR; The Year of Sorrow and Hope (1999) – 1372 DR;The Year of Great Change (2000) – 1373 DR;The Year of Tigers Curse (2001) – 1374 DR;The Year of Despair (2002) – 1375 DR;The Year of Lion's Victory (2003) – 1376 DR.
