Davil Starsong (pronounced: /ˈdɑːvɪl/ DAH-vil[2]) was a sun elf agent of the Zhentarim, operating within the city of Waterdeep during the late 15th century DR. He was known to keep a room at the Yawning Portal, conducting all his business in the taproom.[1][3]
Personality[]
Davil Starsong was naturally capable of finding profitable business deals and making friends, which was ideal for his position within the Black Network. Being a sun elf, he had a natural aptitude for arcane magic, making him a fine bard, along with having the patience of someone who might live ten times longer than even his most fortunate friends. Unlike other sun elves, he was not aloof nor pretentious. He always traded with grace and aplomb even when drunk.[1]
Relationships[]
Davil was a member of the Doom Raiders adventuring company. He and his former companions composed the leadership of the Zhentarim of Waterdeep.[1]
Possessions[]
He used an elven lute as a spellcasting focus.[1]
History[]
Davil was once an adventurer but together with his adventuring companions he decided to join the Zhentarim.[4] In the year 1489 DR, they were directed to establish a Zhent foothold in Waterdeep.[1]
In 1492 DR,[note 1] Davil was seen riding a carriage with a half-orc bodyguard, in the Dock Ward of Waterdeep.[5] It was said he could put people he favored into contact with other acquaintances from the Zhentarim, who in turn provided profitable loans, sold magic, weapons, mercenaries, and even arranged assassinations.[1] He and other Zhents were captured by the City Watch later that year, following the Gralhund Villa Bloodbath.[6]
Appendix[]
Notes[]
- ↑ Canon material does not provide a year for the events described in Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, but Christopher Perkins answered a question via Twitter and stated the year was 1492 DR. Corroborating this, Dragon Heist page 20 refers to events of Death Masks (set in 1491 DR) as being "last year". Unless a canon source contradicts this assertion, this wiki will use 1492 DR for events related to this sourcebook and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (which is referenced on pages 5 and 98 of Dragon Heist).
