The Death Shroud of Bankao was an enchanted cloak made out of a burial shroud of a mysterious Kara-Turan warlord some years before the early 14th century DR.[2]
Description[]
The cloak was made out of coarse black fabric. By the 14th century DR, it lost some of its color, becoming coal gray.[2]
Powers[]
The Death Shroud of Bankao greatly steeled the wearer's constitution. It also gave them the ability to cast the ghoul touch and bull's strength spells once per day each. It also made the wearer immune to the skull trap and glyph of warding spells.[2]
History[]
Even though not much was known about the origin of the Shroud of Bankao, sages believed that it was once a burial shroud. Over the years, the Death Shroud of Bankao was worn by some of the worst among the criminals and murderers across the Sword Coast.[2]
Before the Year of the Griffon, 1312 DR, its last known wearer was an extortionist from Waterdeep, Polger Carallo. He made a living by shaking down the inhabitants of the poor districts of Waterdeep. But when a cleric of Bane declared Carallo owed his church a tribute for the financial success of this illicit operation, the extortionist refused to pay and was killed by the cleric's morningstar.[2]
Later, the Death Shroud of Bankao ended up in the hands of a minotaur shaman from the Underdark below Icewind Dale, who worked for Grimbold Tornhelm in the Year of Rogue Dragons, 1373 DR.[1]
