A dragonscale slough,[2] also known as a dracolich slough,[1] was a type of undead animate[2][1] that could spawn from the bodies of dead dragons,[2] dracoliches as they aged and moved about their lairs,[1] or more rarely living dragons of old age. It was not uncommon for multiple to form in the lairs of the latter.[2]
Description[]
These undead were slithering masses of dragon flesh and molted scales,[2][1] infused with negative energy.[1] They were capable of climbing up walls[2][1] and ceilings.[1]
Behavior[]
Dragonscale sloughs were inherently hostile undead.[2] They were unintelligent,[1] but exhibited many of the same attitudes and instincts as the dragon they were molted from.[2] And they were found to gravitate towards sources of heat.[1]
Abilities[]
These animates were vulnerable to fire-based spells and effects, sunlight, and the spell remove disease.[1]
Combat[]
These undead often scaled walls to drop down onto prey,[2][1] who they would then proceed to try and constrict in their scales[2] and suck out their life energy.[1]
