Drew Karpyshyn has written two novels for Wizards of the Coast. Though his main works lie outside of the Faerûn setting, he carved out the time to write these two novels in 2001. Before 2001, however, he would not have dreamed of writing a novel, as he was a loan officer. When he got in a car accident, he quit his job as a loan officer and was able to go to college again to gain a degree in English. After that he started to write his first novel, Temple Hill.[citation needed]
