Ellis was a quiet man and he stuttered when nervous.[1]

Born as the third child of Lord Royus Adarbrent in 1344 DR, Ellis studied as an apprentice cartographer at Laran's Cartographers.
Ellis later became a senior cartographer at Horizon's Sails.[1]
