Elthaulin was a Zhentarim priest of Bane during the mid-14th century DR.[1]
Personality[]
Elthaulin was ambitious, fanatic, self-important, and manipulative.[1]
Abilities[]
One of his spells allowed his voice to reverberate loudly.[1]
Activities[]
As an upperpriest, Elthaulin carried out a number of rites for the Temple of Bane.[1]
Relationships[]
He had a rivalry with Fzoul Chembryl, whom he absolutely hated,[1] seeking to kill and replace him.[3]
History[]
Elthaulin was leading a rite at the Dark Shrine in Zhentil Keep before Shandril's arrival, which was cut short by Fzoul Chembryl; Elthaulin resented this immensely. He didn't notice, but his rite resulted in a genuine sign from Bane.[1] Elthaulin was later interrupted in yet another ritual by Fzoul Chembryl, who needed all priests to prepare for Shandril's coming, as she was out for his blood.[4]
While Shandril was on her way to fighting Fzoul Chembryl, Elthaulin began to gather the priests loyal to him through Neaveil and Oprion Blackstone, commanding they find all priests more loyal to him than to Fzoul.[3]
Elthaulin tried to lead priests into battle against Shandril after she slew Fzoul; she ignored his forces and focused her efforts on him first, killing him instantly.[2]
