Extension II was an alteration and metamagic spell that increased the time another spell lasted.[2][3][7]

This spell was almost identical to the less potent extension I: If cast directly after another spell requiring less magical power, extention II prolonged that spell to one and a half times its original duration.[2][8][7]

Extension II required verbal components only.[2][7]

This spell was created by Netherese arcanist Zwei in −2579 DR (1285 NY) under the name Zwei's 2nd extension.[1]

By the 1360s DR it was considered uncommon in the magical community in Faerûn,[9] and also only rarely found in Zakhara.[5][note 1]

It fell out of use after the Year of Wild Magic, 1372 DR,[speculation] when experienced spellcasters developed the talent to modify some aspects of their spells, like extending the duration.[10][note 2]
