Faerie fire was a evocation or alteration spell that outlined a target.[10][8][12][5][13]
Effect[]
Faerie fire caused a glowing lining around targets in a selected area.[10][8][12][5][13] In most versions, the spellcaster could choose the color of the glow, picking between green, blue, violet, or red.[10][8][12][13][14]
All versions of the spell made a target easier to hit,[8][13][5] but the post-Spellplague version also caused radiant damage and slowed the target.[5] The pre-Spellplague version negated the effects of spells like blur or darkness.[12]
Druids discovered that faerie fire lasted 44 minutes instead of its usual duration if the spell was cast on a unicorn horn.[15]
Components[]
Other than the usual vocal and somatic components[8][12][13] one version needed foxfire.[10]
Users[]
Drow had the innate ability to cast faerie fire.[16] This ability was granted to them by Faerzress. The drow used the ability in combat as well as to decorate their cities.[14][17]
Experienced knights of the Blue Moon gained the ability to cast faerie fire up to three times per day.[18]
