Template:Spell/daily Feather fall is a spell that causes creatures or objects fall slowly, like a feather. Feather fall instantly changes the rate at which the targets fall to an unnaturally steady rate of ten feet per second. The target of the spell is not damaged upon landing while the spell is in effect.

History

The Netherese arcanist Yturn is given the credit for the creation of this spell in -1158 DR.[1]

Early Era of Upheaval spell effects

This early spell had a weight limit that could be effected, based on the wizards experience and power of the caster.[2]The spell the time was limited by the experience and power of the caster.[2]

Middle Era of Upheaval spell effects

When bards and sorcerers used the spell the time was limited by the experience and power of the caster.[3]This spell had no weight limit, instead effecting limit was by size.[3]This spell is cast as a free action, like a quickened spell.[3]

Late Era of upheaval spell effects

After the Spellplaguethe spell's effects last as is required before the target touches the ground again. Feather fall is complex enough that its caster must wait a day before casting it again.[4]


Feather fall is a common spell in the Realms.[5]

Monster Lore

Beholders have a permanent feather fall effect.[6]Sliver dragons can use a feather fall spell-like ability.[7]
