Forgotten Realms Wiki:Uploading signatures

This page is an official policy on the Forgotten Realms Wiki. It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all users should follow. When editing this page, please ensure that your revision reflects consensus. When in doubt, discuss first on the talk page.

Signatures uploaded to this wiki should adhere to fair use policies and respect original artists and copyright holders. Therefore, all signatures will use the {{Signature}} template to provide the information in this list.

Requirements

All uploads of signatures will:

• Point to an existing image on the wiki. Such existing images should already have licensing information, to say whether they are copyrighted and appear under fair use, in the public domain, used with permission, or any other situation. For more information on the images the signature is taken from, see {{Information}}.
• Credit the artist who the signature belongs to.
• Provide the source from which they were taken.

Guidelines

Uploads of signatures should:

• Be a clear representation of a certain signature's style: very blurry images are unacceptable.
  • Some very old signatures will be poorly scanned or of low resolution and still need to be represented on the wiki. Thus, some of these signatures may still be acceptable.
• Be no smaller than 25 pixels on either side for clarity and visualization purposes.
• Be cropped so that the signature is the focus of the image: signatures including too much of the parent image or excessive whitespace are unacceptable.
• If applicable, be enhanced as to achieve prior guidelines, such as cutting out art that directly interferes with the signature.
• Use a standard image file type: png, gif, jpg, jpeg.
• Be categorized correctly. An uploaded signature should have the following categories:
  • Direct source category, e.g., Category:Signatures from Monstrous Manual
  • Parent source category (if applicable), e.g., Category:Signatures from 2nd edition sourcebooks
  • Source type category, e.g., Category:Signatures from sourcebooks
• Have an associated category page created of the uploaded signature (and associated source categories), i.e., [[Category:Signatures of Firstname Lastname]], that:
  • Uses DEFAULTSORT
  • Links to the artist's page

Any signature uploads that violates these requirements and guidelines may be deleted.
