Ten years ago, on October 1st, 2005, the FR wiki started with this for a Main Page:
Welcome to the Forgotten Realms wiki. A collection of data involving the forgotten realms universe. Data my include, books, Pen & Paper scenarios and characters. Have fun and start editing!
  — User:W-Drizzt

We have come a long way, and I hope you feel some pride in our accomplishments. Does anyone want to commemorate this milestone, and if so, how? The floor is open...

Moviesign (talk) 14:14, September 13, 2015 (UTC)

Wow! Maybe we add this little piece of history to the Main Page... kind of like a plaque... we could also have a cool image to go along with it :)
- Darkwynters (talk) 16:25, September 13, 2015 (UTC)

We could see if WotC would sponsor us to all meet in person at some exotic location?
~ Lhynard (talk) 21:34, September 13, 2015 (UTC)

Wow. That's a great run as wikis go. I really wish I'd gotten involved when Hash told me about it in, oh, 2006. We could post about it at the usual forums – Candlekeep, WotC, and I think EnWorld's been suggested, but I have no experience there – along with the normal updates on progress and current state and features. Showing our longevity and staying power should really help attract interest.
— BadCatMan (talk) 01:52, September 14, 2015 (UTC)

If you'd been involved since 2006, we'd be the wikipedia of fandom by now ;-) Time for another "State of the Wiki" post? I was hoping you'd say that.
Moviesign (talk) 02:29, September 14, 2015 (UTC)

Haha... Movie, I was thinking the same thing :)
- Darkwynters (talk) 04:52, September 14, 2015 (UTC)

Nice! w:c:Runescape has a nice and simple image just below their wikia logo that draws the attention of the visitor (by the way they also had their 10th anniversary this year). And I just wanted to say this: Well done to everyone! You have all brought this wikia so far all the way along. So yeah, why not go with a piece of wikia history in main page and even a simple eye catcher for two months or so! The 10th anniversary will come and go, so prepare to raise your glass!
Jandor (talk) 09:25, September 14, 2015 (UTC)

I'll make an announcement on /r/Forgotten_Realms too. I like the idea of the quote somewhere on the front page. Are there any projects we could get up and running in celebration?
--Eli the Tanner (talk) 17:46, September 16, 2015 (UTC)

Awesome! I've only been here for a quick 6 months but have enjoyed my time immensely. Here's to 10 more great years! (I might be done making Zakhara pages around that time...)
--Artemaz (talk) 18:42, September 16, 2015 (UTC)

The FRW is older than Wookieepedia. :o To think, we could have been that big and developed by now. Sadly, some quiet intervening years saw a lot of plagiarised content, fan lore, and an overwhelming core/4e focus go unopposed onto the wiki, which gave the wiki a bad rep among fans. We've only now gotten it largely cleaned up and under control. In hindsight, I regret not being in on the ground floor, being around to keep the wiki clean all that time. And I'd have so many projects done by now. TBH, I'd celebrate not the ten years it's survived, but the last few years that it's thrived. :)

I like Wookieepedia's celebration of its own community with Wookiepedians of the Month and a blog, and the record of its history and fame at Wookieepedia. Obviously, it's a much bigger, more popular, and well-known wiki, for a bigger and more popular franchise. Something similar would be nice here, though we don't have the membership to manage these kinds of extra meta-features. Though if someone has the idea and the time... ;) (That would not be me.)

I notice Wookiepedia also now has a 10th anniversary logo. Perhaps if someone has the artistic skill, they could embellish ours or even come up with a new one. I tried to change the crappy tiny icon once, but it proved beyond my technical skills. A whole artistic renovation would be sweet, with a universal template style, flavoured templates, background images, personalised pop-ups even. Perhaps we could ask the Community Development Team for a makeover?

As for me, I'll try to download and analyse the statistics for the last ten years, to try to illustrate how we've grown. Dull, but informative. :)

After collaborative efforts at Eilistraee, Forgotten Realms Wiki:Requests, and others, I like the idea of a collaborative project. Say we pick something that's key to the Realms and a drawcard for the wiki, something bigger than any of us could do alone (say Drizzt Do'Urden), then we all work on it together, picking different sources or aspects and working it up as we can. (I think Wookieepedia does something similar.) That could be quite a lengthy endeavour of course, interrupting our regular work, but maybe we could manage one a year.

— BadCatMan (talk) 02:52, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

A universal template style (for the infoboxes) is in progress as I convert them to the new portable infoboxes. Flavors (like the different color schemes for various creature types) will be supported. Not sure what you mean by background images. I certainly don't want anything behind the text I read :P
Moviesign (talk) 04:01, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

Wookiepedia has a background image of a city that appears in both Oasis and Monobook skins (which they've tweaked to their own style). I could only get our map to appear in Oasis. Mainly, I was just thinking of little stylistic touches like this that really distinguish a wiki from other, most basic Wikia wikis.

Some wikis have pop-up notices for tips, notifications, congratulations on your first edit, that sort of thing. Imagine a fan comes by and makes an edit or adds some content, then they receive a pop-up (I think it's only in Oasis), which we can call a scroll, addressing them as a sage or adventurer, giving a tip or bit of advice or suggestion. That would really personalise the wiki and be engaging with the general readers and users.

I think, now we've gotten content and organisation largely under control, image should be our next focus to attract fans and retain users.
— BadCatMan (talk) 04:23, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

I find pop-ups generally annoying, but if it's a one-time thing I'd be okay with that. Can only bureaucrats set the background image of the wiki? I may poke around in the dark Monobook corners and see if I find anything.
Moviesign (talk) 13:11, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

Wow, congrats every one! Hmm I'v been here on and of sense 2011, and I really love this this place, all the lore and helping hands, its really grate!

Damn you Eli, you took the tought from my head! A day before I had it! Maybe we could get some T-shirts? Or hats or something? I have been thinking about asking about T-shirts before... I don't know how well we all have it economically, but I'd gladly spend something on a "TFR wikia 10 years" T-shirt or something else!

EDIT: Thinking about people wanting to meet: my work place (Sweden) rents out rooms for tourists, so if people wanted to come here that could work, (I could even ask my boss for a discount?). I think that if people from the wikia come here she might atleast ask if they might help/attend a PnP event that a friend of mine is trying to develop. (To cut a long story short he's gonna sell a "RP - PnP" course to people so that they can try it out and also to sell it companies) if any one gets interested in the idea here's the Website: .

Terrorblades 's Far Realm logs dated 14:24, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

I fiddled around and added dates to our logo image:

Wiki-10yrs which can be used in a pinch. My hope is someone with artistic talent and/or better tools can do better :)

Moviesign (talk) 01:37, September 18, 2015 (UTC)

Ok, nice initial concept Movie. I will handle this. I will post here in 18 hours or so a dropbox link or sthing similar with some concepts to pick from for the logo.
Jandor (talk) 02:25, September 18, 2015 (UTC)

I do not like pop-ups either, but we could enable the Achievements feature.
~ Lhynard (talk) 15:08, September 18, 2015 (UTC)

Alrigth, some explanations first. I used Gimp to create a bunch of different pngs for the logo. Type (1) is of concept similar to Movie's and type (2) is with a anniversary phrase just beneath the logo. The letters (A-M) indicate the use of shadow, blur, outline, different font (the basic font used is the "Splendors" font that is meaned to be the Forgotten Realms font [there are some monor differences] is also contained in the link below). If you like some of these but with different effects or colours, give me a direction as to what seams better or what you want (e.g. colour, effect, size, etc). If you don't want to write here for a specific of these, so as to keep the conversation to general outlines and ideasfor the anniversary, you can write in my talk page. Now go, check the [link].

One more thing. I revamped our regular logo. I mostly deleted some nasty white spots in the outline, although they didn't show up in the front page because of the white background. If you pick one of the images for the anniversary, let me update that picture also.

Edit: I also uploaded a .xls (Excel type) file explaining the differences - effects of all the images.
Jandor (talk) 07:24, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

Pop-ups: Wikia's pop-ups are the notices that appear on a page, not separate windows, IIRC. It just seems the only way to get info and advice to the anons, like reminding them to cite their sources, not add homebrew, etc. Achievements! That's what I was thinking of.

Terrorblades: Yeah, that's a step too far. :p

Anniversary logo: Nice work! Okay, I think placing the anniversary line below the logo gives it the most emphasis, as people may overlook it if were within, unless it was in a very different colour. The gold gets lost in the brown and sepia, so if it were within, then maybe red would be better? The Splendors font is very busy, so if using it, I'd say to leave it plain, not with italics or other effects.
— BadCatMan (talk) 14:28, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

I actually like the achievement idea... sorry, Jandor, I do not have Drop Box... Movie, I love the logo and red or silver would be very cool :)
- Darkwynters (talk) 15:55, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

I like WikiAnniv10_2_B.png (3rd row, 1st column).

As far as I'm concerned, achievements encourage editing for the sake of racking up points and you can't (as far as I know) make achievements for meaningful goals, like cleaning up an article, adding references to an unsourced article, or writing a featured article (an extreme example). Correct me if I'm wrong. Achievements and badges seem a bit juvenile, although only slightly more so than those of us who update their editing achievements in excruciating detail on a daily basis (guilty!).

Moviesign (talk) 18:54, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

Some great ideas going, I love the new anniversary logo and seems a simple thing to introduce. Personally ambivalent about acheivements but I think as an encouragement tool for editors it seems like a boon. People will still work on the stuff that we love and if it gets new editors joining then in that can only be handy. Also considering a lot of us like keeping track of our contributions, or at least recording our efforts somehow, it seems a nice complementary widgit.

Terrorblades, a trip to Sweden might be beyond budget at the moment sadly

--Eli the Tanner (talk) 19:18, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

Wow, 10 years! Great to see how far this wiki has come. I'd love to help out and contribute to this celebration in any way I can. Here's what I've got ideas wise;
  • I agree that the logo should change to reflect the achievement. I'll post some visual ideas in a bit.
  • I agree that the favicon should also be updated. I created the favicon for the Baldur's Gate Wiki and will post some ideas for this Wiki's favicon soon.
  • Perhaps a slight name change? The Forgotten Wiki is the obvious one but might seem a bit sad. A name as witty as Wookiepedia will be hard but surely we can come up with some creative name ideas!
  • A meet up would be great, or maybe enable the chat feature at the least so we can socialize a bit.
  • I agree with User:Moviesign about achievements. I think that it encourages quantity over quality.
  • I would love if we could communicate with Ed somehow (maybe over the candlekeep forum) and get a quote from him for the mainpage. Or even better a recorded video message!
  • Maybe the background image would do with a change. I love the Dalelands as much as the next guy, but I still dont know why they are featured as the backdrop for this wiki.

That's my thoughts. I may not be humble...but I am extremely talented with Photoshop so will get to work on some graphic very soon :p

EDIT: Here's what I had in mind for the logo;

To celebrate how venerbale this wiki is getting I tihnk we should revamp the homepage to be more like the 2nd ed Forgotten Realms style.
-Thomas Love Star_tiny.png [talk] 20:44, September 19, 2015 (UTC)

Achievements: Okay, these don't do what I thought they could. Never mind. If people would like them, then sure, but I have no strong feelings for it.

Logo: I love that 2nd-edition logo! With the border shaped around the letters, it fits so well. I'd like to see our 3rd-edition logo with the same shape. Then we could alternate them maybe.

Favicon: I once tried to make a new favicon, replacing it with a miniature of Elminster's arcane sigil (distinctive and it works at tiny-scale). Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to upload my jpeg-turned-ico file; it says "File extension ".ico" does not match the detected MIME type of the file (image/jpeg)."

Name change: No! "Forgotten Realms Wiki" may not be a clever pun, but there's no mistaking what it is and what it's about, and I can't imagine anything else now. All the fans know about it by that name now (though changing the name may shed the bad reputation among some). Anything else would have to be a famous body of lore in the setting, but "Candlekeep" is taken. "Volo's Guide to the Realms", maybe? Nah.

Background: The background image in the Oasis skin needed to be large, and I wanted a sepia tone (descending from the 3e logo) and a map or scroll to illustrate what we're about. At the time I started updating the Oasis style, WotC had released a big new map of the Dalelands for wallpaper, so I grabbed that. It's like the core area of the Realms, so it's certainly fitting. I'm not attached to it though. Admins can go to Special:ThemeDesigner (only in Oasis) and muck about with the theme, including logo and favicon.
— BadCatMan (talk) 12:40, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

I might have already said this: I love the 2e logo... took me back to being 13 and reading The Crystal Shard... name change: NO!!!... background: no preference... but I think the logo is wicked :)

- Darkwynters (talk) 15:42, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

Hello again. Thanks for the wordmark feedback. I put together another one based on the 3rd edition style:

Thomaslove wordmark 10yr 3e style

Im happy to keep tweaking them or making new one, just lemme know what you think.

I also created Category:Wordmarks to collect the wordmark uploads. If an admin could add File:Wiki_wide.png to the category it would make me happy for housekeeping reasons :)

EDIT: I have also created a slightly lighter variation that may fit better with the colours on the wiki. Thomaslove wordmark 10yr 3e style

Thomaslove wordmark 10yr 3e style light

-Thomas Love Star_tiny.png [talk] 15:52, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

Darkwynters, there is no need to have dropbox account enabled to see the contents of the link, that why I used it in the first place. I couldn't upload all of the in this wiki and I shouldn't (When you click the [link] , just ignore that popup and press "X" on the upper right corner. There you have everything.)

Achievements: I'm also neutral to achievements (due to the negative reasons noted before, but also due to some positive effect on newcomers, although that is debateable for our wiki). If you end up implementing one, maybe a simple achievement system should be enough (However, I'm not sure it would be ready for the 1st of October).

Logo: I like the shape of that 2nd-edition logo made by ThomasLove, but I don't like the colors of it, except if you want to change the whole front page, so as they will match alltogether. Additionally, I believe that this "product" of our-yours efforts has certain attributes and these must be preserved, if not made better, and of course during the anniversary. To my opinion some of these attributes are a prestigious, clean, modern look. And so a 2nd or specific edition look would spoil the slow build of these. I think with should keep it quite as it is, make our wikia slithlty better. Small and steady changes means small everyday smiles! Not enormous steps to the unknown... Edit: I like much better the second logo you made ThomasLove
I will make some more images tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, so that the admins can choose when the time is near... Some more colors, fonts and concepts...

Favicon: BatCatMan, nice idea.. If you still have that file, could you send it over to me? I will take a look at it...

Name change: Definetely NO for the anniversary. The reasons are the same as above in logo subsection of this post. Imagine this conversation: "-Miboloft celebrates its 100th year anniversary! -Who's Miboloft? -It's Microsoft. They chose to have a name change right in their anniversary so as to please their haters...! -Awwww.......(Awkward..)"

Background: A change would be nice, keeping the same colors - tones!

Piece of lore in main page about 10th anniversary: I would like to see this. I think it suplemendes the anniversary logo, cause some people would try to find out smthing about the anniversary, not many words. Keep it small!
Jandor (talk) 16:41, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

Very nice work Thomaslove92, both are good logos but I think the 3rd edition one fits with the existing style of the wiki better. Candlekeep uses the 2nd edition style throughout it's website and we may just end up copying them rather than developing our own look. We just redesigned /r/Forgotten_Realms using the 2e logo so I am definitely a fan still.

I think the idea of a wikia-drives to work on certain articles (e.g. Eilistraee) would be a good initiative which we could all pitch in for the anniversary. Provided we come to a consensus on which article(s) to tackle.

Stick with the name. The reputation will change with better content rather than rebranding, which isn't really the point of this anyway.

--Eli the Tanner (talk) 21:17, September 20, 2015 (UTC)

Logo: Going back to the 2e-style logo is too cute not to try, if only for the anniversary and April Fool's. :) I think we can swing any clash of colours on such occasions. I tested out the two here (2e) and here (3e).

favicon: I sent you the files, Jandor. Good luck!
— BadCatMan (talk) 10:22, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Nice work so far! ThomasLove I like your work! My last three shots, before this forum page turns into DeviantArt or Flickr,

Wiki-10yrs 2 B2 Wiki-10yrs 4 F WikiAnniv10 4 D
The first one was of the concept with anniversary words beneath liked by Movie, but with the font of the anniversary words darker. The second and third one by Thomas in which I changed the overall colors a bit more. All have the anniversary font in the same color (Brown-Red) as the top Navigation bar in Oasis skin. (By the way I upload every picture in that dropbox link..)

April's fool:1 week before and 1 week after April's fool, you could mess the main page up with different colors and logo.. It's would be tricky, but nice and welcome!

BatCatMan, I received the mail. I will take a dive into these files and the .ico settings and post back or just mail you in some hours...
Jandor (talk) 12:09, September 21, 2015 (UTC))

Jandor: I prefer the font for the years in the third, and the simplicity of just stating the years, neatly fitting the shape of the logo (though is anyone else put in mind of 2015 seeming to be our last year? :o ).

Just out of interest, us Monobook users have seeing a different logo for years:
while this logo seems to have been created by User:Fw190a8 years ago but never used:
Wiki wide
The issue is moot now, but I like the shading and glow on the text, and that they move toward a unique logo not based on the official ones.

favicon: Okay. I might be in bed by then, and logged out of my email, so don't wait on me. :)
— BadCatMan (talk) 12:36, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Achievements do not seem to be as good as they could be, I agree. You can supposedly set up "tracks" though, so that one only gets a certain award if, say, editing an article tagged with {{Cleanup}} or {{Unreferenced}}. I don't think there's anyway to track if a reference was actually added or if anything is actually cleaner though. I wish I could play around with them in a sandbox somehow.

As an alternative idea, what if we set up a barnstar system like Wikipedia has? They must be manually given, so it avoids many of the downfalls of the automatic achievements system.

An unrelated idea I had was to initiate the idea of "good" articles in addition to featured articles. A good article would be one that A) follows all our policies, B) has no {{Stub}}, {{Unrelated}}, {{Unreferenced}}, etc. tags, C) has been copy-edited, D) has at least one image and infobox (if applicable), and E) anything else we might want to add.

~ Lhynard (talk) 16:54, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

BadCat, the 2e logo example jumps out at me... while the 3e one blends in with the rest of the page... my two coppers :)
- Darkwynters (talk) 22:13, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

Okay, I just made a transparent multilayered favicon of Elminister's sigil. (As far as I have tested it works fine. It has some layers: 256x256, 64x64, 48x48 [32, 8 bits], 32x32 [32,8,4 bits] and 16x16 [32,8,4 bits] so as to work for a lot of devices, operating systems and/or browsers.) I sent it over to BadCatMan, so as to check it and implement it as he sees fit.

Keep up the good work!

Edit: Thanks admin BatCatMan. Guys if you want you can download it and even use it in a app icon or folder icon... :)
Jandor (talk) 11:58, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

Great work Jandor, the favicon looks great. Simple but effective.

-Thomas Love Star_tiny.png [talk] 12:06, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

BatCatMan, its a tiny bit more dark cause I used the linked image as a base.

Thanks Thomas Love. Yours is also good. So I have an idea - feeling that this will give an even better result for logo. Can you tweak the logo as to contain the following:

  • This great not-rectangular shape
  • 3e colors but somewhere between the lighter one of yours and the new ones by me (mine seem a lit bit grayed to me), getting as close to the shades of the colors of the one now in use.
  • With the same sharpeness (maybe -1/-2 for smoothness) as you logos.
  • Try the splendors font (it's in that dropbox link), i kinda don't feel that good with how "5" is that open in your font. Otherwise okay. Maybe you have any other font. Will have to get other opinion in that for guidance.
  • Font color: #7b3b0a (its the one in our nav bar in oasis skin) or #773608
  • OR: An anniversary text below the shape, maybe blending with the shape, not just years so as to see how that compares to the ones made...
Jandor (talk) 12:29, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

The favicon is live!

In the Monobook skin, when you edit a page, there's a bold red line proclaiming "You must add a source for any statements you add to this wiki or your edit might be reverted. See Help:Citing sources for help on how to do this." and sundry other notices, warnings, and bits of advice, all telling users to reference their work, add categories, and not to add copyright images and text. It's a noticeable notice to the newbie editor, and would have been seen by all when Monobook was the default skin. Unfortunately, Oasis lacks the widget that shows these, so there's nothing to tell the newbie editor what they should and should not be doing, right when they edit a page or immediately after they publish.

Frankly, after copy-editing all the wonky stub pages from anons, I really really want to tell them how to do it better.

I've been thinking about Good articles for a while, but judging which is Good and which is merely ordinary seemed difficult. Wookiepedia does Good articles, and suggests they be at the same standard as a Featured Article, just not as long. I don't think Good articles would need voting like our Featured Articles, it could just be by admin discretion.

Just thinking of the 2e-style logo and the colour scheme, an alternative would be to switch to a stone-and-ruins colour scheme, rather than parchment and leather (which I adapted from the existing colours).

On the topic of joint, wiki-wide projects (now I've found where I got the idea from), Wookieepedia does "Barn-Burners", where they occasionally pick general topics for everyone to work on, provide lists of likely subjects, and users claim articles to write or develop. I think this would be quite effective here: one complaint I've seen is that the FRW is not comprehensive (as noted on TVTropes), which is generally a correct one except for a few topics that are the main editors' pet interests. Cormyr is a key realm of the setting, yet we don't have much to say about Arabel. "Horde" editing would focus us on some key topics and clear a lack of important lore quite quickly. That may be more effective than all of us working together on a single article like Drizzt Do'Urden and the potential editing clashes.

Anyway, this thread's for spitballing ideas. Major discussions can spin off into new threads.
— BadCatMan (talk) 12:58, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

BadCatman: Ok :P

Eli: Yeah I'm guessing that its not very cheap to fly here :S!
Does any one mind if I get a T-shirt with the Icon that we pick for the celebration? As for the name thing people don't seam to like the change but the German page is called "Farunpedia", but that would be stealing :P.

Can we get Achievements for making Red linked pages? Hmm a "Barn-burner" would be interesting! I don't know how things are with the SW lore but do you also have equivalents of Dragon/Dungeon? I look at old issues and I just keep finding new stuff :S! I'm for "Barn-Burner" and Achivments there just a little thing to have on your page. And I'm also pro "WikiAnniv10_4_D.png". It would be super cool to get a Edd quote! A video message even better! What sort of things do we need to do to get that to happen? Maybe we could get some other authors to say something aswell (Think some one said that many of them have used the wikia for reference?)? I think many of the current once are on twitter?

Terrorblades 's Far Realm logs dated 19:26, September 23, 2015 (UTC)

Hey folks, just saw this on the Marvel Database and the video they put together is exactly what I had in mind for us. Just a few words from some a couple of the admins, some authors, maybe Chris Perkins or Wil Wheaton and if we are lucky Ed Greenwood. Maybe some emails sent to the right places, maybe ask the Wikia staff to help out. Are there any meet ups or book signing coming up soon where we can ask nicely? Thoughts?
-Thomas Love Star_tiny.png [talk] 19:14, September 26, 2015 (UTC)

It has begun. I've posted an announcement and potted history at the Candlekeep forums, here. One thing I can do is hyperbole. :D I can't access my old WotC forums account today; it won't accept my emails or passwords, so that will have to wait until I try again tomorrow. I don't have an EnWorld account, but I'll look into it tomorrow.
— BadCatMan (talk) 11:56, September 30, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry I remade your link to the site so your post would show!

Dident WoTC forum close down?

Terrorblades 's Far Realm logs dated 12:25, September 30, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, TB, I don't know why simple links get so tricky to work.

Shut down? Bloody hell. They turned the forums into unusable crap for years, no wonder people relocated, don't blame new media. Well, it looks like I have some threads to save...
— BadCatMan (talk) 12:33, September 30, 2015 (UTC)

No prob ;)! It was reviled in some old thread its the "equal" sign! Do you have any tips of what to save?

Also did every one agree on the to use? And if where going to ask people?

Terrorblades 's Far Realm logs dated 15:31, September 30, 2015 (UTC)

Argh. I registered at months ago, but never used it. I thought I'd advertise there, but 10 posts before I can post links to prove I'm not a spammer. I registered at EN World today, but they require 3 posts. Either I've got to delve back into the world of forums (ugh) or someone else will have to post plugs for the Forgotten Realms Wiki.

I have to save some old character building guides, including one I wrote, and some interesting Forgotten Realms threads like Kara-Tur Redux and Utter East Redux, just because I put so much work into them. If any of them still survive and haven't already been lost.
I don't know what you're asking about Terrorblades? If you mean logos, I'll cycle through my favourites. Ask people what?

Cheers fellows! I used my Arc account (used in Neverwinter (MMORPG) game) to write two sentences for the anniv in those forums. You can find it here and here. I even shouted it sometimes throughout some highly visited areas in game...

Nice work. So, you're the town crier? :)
— BadCatMan (talk) 08:14, October 1, 2015 (UTC)

It's nothing impressive really.. I cut-copied-pasted parts from your writings and merged them in one for that audience. But by tomorrow it might not have more than 100 views, some already being from us here. (The game developers have made some changes in some monetary ingame systems and the player-base is already declining so much that the are using some heavy FR advertisement, like R.A. Salvatore, names like Underdark, etc. Additionally, most of the players never watch the forums so, you could say that the harvest won't be lucrative enough form there. But it was worth the writing!) Yeah, I'm also a town crier in the Realms "Hear ye, Hear ye...! OUurrr Wiki, cElebrAtessss...!"
Jandor (talk) 08:54, October 1, 2015 (UTC)

Hay Jandor! Mind if I rework your text for the Sword Coast legends forums?

EDIT: I had to steal it, I ran out of time! I'll remove it if you want to! here EDIT EDIT: People on the SCL forums seam to really appriciate all the wikia work! If any one wants some props go there :D!

Nice work Terrorblades! You shouldn't have asked in the first plaece... my post was also a copy and creative paste of BCM's post from here and there! There are a lot of nice responses in that forum, so well done!

Ah, nice! That's more attention than we got at Candlekeep this time around. I searched the En World forums, and found some generally good discussion of the FRW. It's good to know people do appreciate this and are really using it.

Re: my suggestion above about Good Articles, I've written up a new policy proposal: Forgotten Realms Wiki:Good articles.

I noticed that Thomas Love has created a really nice wordmark-logo for the monobook skin, a rework of the current one. It's this one:

It looks great, so I thought I had to write it here, in case you hadn't notice and it would be nice (if you also like it) to use it!

Jandor (talk) 10:19, October 5, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the positive feedback Jandor. I've been discussing a monbobook logo with BadCatMan. I'm still tweaking it, but it's always nice to hear good things :)

Yeah, it's very nicely done, placing the logo in the middle of the action. I was really only expecting a reshaped standard logo. TBH, I'll take whatever Thomas gives me. :) I plan to make some tweaks to the Main Page layout at some point, when I get the time.

End of the anniversaryEdit

Oct. 1st is fast approaching and will be the end of our 11th year. Do we want to keep our current "10th anniversary" logo, increment the year, go back to the old one, or come up with a new one?
Moviesign (talk) 14:51, September 6, 2016 (UTC)

I was thinking we should take it down and revert to the standard logo. The old one is starting to look we died in 2015. :p Is there a new FR-specific logo for 5th edition we can adapt as a new logo? Judging by the latest sources, I'd guess not.
— BadCatMan (talk) 15:18, September 6, 2016 (UTC)

We could start postfixing the logo with the name of the year. We'd be on "The Year of Wistful Looks". :)
~ Lhynard (talk) 15:23, September 6, 2016 (UTC)

As of right now, there is no new 5e logo... I agree with BadCat... return to old logo... maybe we could return to the old skool 2e one.

Darkwynters (talk) 22:59, September 6, 2016 (UTC)

Hello all. I am happy to tweak the wordmarks again. I could simply remove the years or update it to 2016 as has been suggested. Let me know what you want to see and I will make it so.
-Thomas Love Star_tiny.png [talk] 13:38, September 9, 2016 (UTC)

We just passed the 11th anniversary! I've switched the Wikia/Oasis logo to Thomaslove92's special 1st/2nd-edition variety for some different and noticeable. I'll give it a week then shift it to an ordinary logo.
— BadCatMan (talk) 06:22, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

Good job, BadCat. I love the logo :)
