I'm wondering how we should handle the names of articles about a house or family. I've used "House" for drow houses, for example House Do'Urden, but no prefix for Cormyrean noble houses, so simply Skatterhawk, for example. Then, for dwarven clans, I've ended up using "Clan", so Clan Battlehammer for example. Does anyone else think it would be a lot simpler to just use the name of the house as the article name, with no prefix?

The approach above (with 'House' for drow, and 'clan' for dwarves) looks good to me. Human families I don't think should be given a prefix, as they're rarely ever refered to in such a manner.

I agree with Zerak on this one, seems like a good compromise between the existing system and this idea. I began to move a few, but will hold off and wait to see if anyone else wants to put their two cents in.

I was just thinking about this while reading House Baenre. "Clan is the English spelling of clann, a Gaelic word meaning children or family." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan). "Many anthropologists use "Tribe" to refer to societies organized largely on the basis of kinship, especially corporate descent groups (see clan and lineage)." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribe). "A dynasty, a familiar descendance, for example, a Royal House." (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/house). So, possibly, there could be a category "Family" or "Families", and then there could be "clans", "houses", etc. I'd be wary of using "clan" only for dwarves, as it is the Forgotten Realms and somewhere there's probably some human barbarians, halfling nomads, and wood elf families that are calling themselves a "clan". As far as existing, ug, not real sure, but I'd say, for organization sake, leave out the prefix, make the prefix a category type. But I don't have a strong opinion on it either way. --Fizzygoo 01:36, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
