Hi! I'm still getting the hang of all those funny bits of the wiki style, but I had a question. Someone put a link on Lord Artificer Omanond's, leading to the Artificer page. I thought of that, but I didn't feel super certain at the time; I don't know if the Lord Artificers were Artificers.

The Artificer class was introduced by Keith Baker, for Eberron. As far as I can tell, the Imaskari artificer title was for wizards, or at least intended to be wizards. I've sifted the rest of the wiki (thanks everyone!) looking for clues for or against. Sadly, the Imaskar article is short on citations. I could try and add some, but most of that text comes from books I don't have, I wouldn't even know where to look for them.

Apparently, there was an Artificer wizard kit in 2nd edition AD&D, Player's Choice, 1991- the Artificer page presents that as 2e stats.

OTOH, is it possible that the Artificer was at least partly designed with the input of people in the Forgotten Realms design team? I remember that, shortly before Eberron came out, the Master Arcane Artisan class was put forward in Epic Insights. This epic PrC has some abilities that are suspiciously similar to those of the Artificer. That looks like too close for a coincidence; it's possible that Mr. Baker did not design the entire Artificer, and that those class features had been envisioned for a time already. http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ei/20030314a

I wanted to ask, from the people who know this stuff- are there characters who are canonically of the Imaskari artificer tradition, which have been given game stats as having the artificer class?

Found something! Check out Forgotten realms campaign setting 3rd Edition, p. 266, Lost Empires sidebar:

"[...] The Imaskari, also known as the artificers, were [...]"

I'm thinking of starting a page for Imaskari artificers, so I have something to link on those instead of the regular artificers. This cite is from 2001, so it's reasonable to think it's got nothing to do with the Artificer class. Alternatively, I could jot down on both Imaskari and Artificers that the Imaskari were also known as artificers. Might also add that the crescent and the fox were the Imaskari symbol for their Artificers' Guild, but we know very little about that.

Wiki elders, please weigh in? Which one should I do?
