I'm just wondering what other people are doing to promote the wiki with regard to attracting new members. I've added links here in the profiles of my accounts on several fantasty/D&D related message boards. Any other ideas?

We could try going for the spotlight again. I've been doing the same, even offering incentives using my powers as a DM on a big roleplaying site to no avail.
It's always a problem I guess. I think that the larger the wiki grows, naturally the more traffic it will entice, and therefore the more editors will arrive. I have a link in my signature at the Wizards forums, but the attitude towards the wiki is quite negative there. The best way, in my mind, is to keep doing what we're doing, and the growth will come.

I've just had a thought. I'm not sure how this will go down with the Wikipedia community really, but it shouldn't matter, since we are only providing links to the best information. We could put a small interwiki template at the bottom of every Forgotten Realms-related Wikipedia article for which we have a better article here. If we have the same, or less information here, there's no point really. See the bottom of the Wikipedia:Amn for an example! Thoughts?

I think those are both good ideas (spotlighting and wikipedia-linking). I share those concerns of negative reactions from Wikipedia mods though, and I think we should heed their advice if they take issue with that. Otherwise I think it'd be great as I remember being extremely frustrated looking for FR material only on Wikipedia and that D20 site before I found this place.

Hello all (or, in Realms-style: Hail and well met!)

A thorough Forgotten Realms wiki would be a great asset; I would like to contribute. I'm a Realms fan, player and DM. Previously (too many years ago to be comfortable about) I dabbled in Greyhawk, Dragonlance and homebrew settings.

In between MMORPG addiction (don't worry, it's not Warcraft) I co-write a comprehensive Chronology of the Star Trek universe. In the past I have co-written parts of a Cthulhu Cyclopaedia intended as a reference work for a Call of Cthulhu meta-campaign that was run in my area.

I confess to not having worked much with online tools, but I thought it was high time I got with the Web 2.0 era. Information pools such as Candlekeep Forums have their place I suppose, but I find trawling through forums in search of nuggets of data too cumbersome when I'm in writing frenzy or DM preperation mania.

Oh, and the nickname? As a DM, I always liked classic "twirling moustache" villains like the Cult of the Dragon. :-)
