Forums: Helping Hand > Nominated Feature Sources

Use the following template for a nicely presented post:

{{Forum post|Write your message here!|~~~~}}

This thread is for nominating and discussing featured articles to go on the Featured source template. It is not necessary to vote on quality, only to determine if the article has a good description of the source material, some background information, and a complete contents and/or index of what it contains. An administrator will choose a featured source that meets these criteria.

Please nominate an article in the following format:

Realms of the Dead — Approved!

Nominated by
Moviesign
This could be a "Featured Source", if you think it more appropriate.
Disclaimer
I have not read this book. – Moviesign
Pros
  • Long, detailed summaries. Tie-ins to almost every corner of the Realms. Work spans every edition. – Moviesign

  • Well, having left it too long, I needed a featured source in a hurry, and this was the closest. Accepted, for now. — BadCatMan (talk) 14:09, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

City of the Spider Queen — Approved!

Nominated by
Eli the Tanner
Disclaimer
I have added a rather large amount to this article recently in an effort to get it up to standard.--Eli the Tanner (talk) 15:12, January 3, 2014 (UTC)
Pros
  • One of the most renowned 3rd edition adventures. Extensive Indexing and a summary. Pretty much complete topic. Realms-centered.--Eli the Tanner (talk) 15:12, January 3, 2014 (UTC)
  • I really like the Index section that Eli added. Red links are not a problem, they will go away eventually. This is more properly a Featured Source, not a Featured Article. —Moviesign
  • Excellent, just what we need for these Featured Sources. — BadCatMan (talk)
Cons
  • Possibly a few more entries need to be added to the Index. Still some red links. Submitted primarily to help fill Featured source/article quota.--Eli the Tanner (talk) 15:12, January 3, 2014 (UTC)
  • I'd like to see it either all in past tense or all in present tense. I will vote for it once we decide how it should be. —Moviesign
  • I added a line at the beginning to provide a formal introduction to the article, as standard. — BadCatMan (talk)
Requests
  • Advice on in-universe vs out-of-universe summary for products like this. Currently has a hybrid of the two.--Eli the Tanner (talk) 15:12, January 3, 2014 (UTC)
    • Since this is an adventure, events will happen differently for every group that attempts it, so a high-level discussion of the major plot points is all you can really expect for this type of article. I think this could be written in present tense and the mix of in-universe and out-of-universe terms is okay. Perhaps make it sound like an extended version of the quote? —Moviesign
  • Present tense is fine, as the article talks about what is in a still valid, extant book. The whole article should be out-of-universe, and, indeed, it is. "Players" would be acceptable. — BadCatMan (talk) 08:55, January 12, 2014 (UTC)

Pros
  • The first Realms novel, the page has a summary, an index, and some background information. Darkwynters and Mortaned and others have done good work making a lot of articles based on this novel. — BadCatMan
  • Looks good! Index is awesome. — Moviesign
Cons
Requests
  • I'm currently reading it (for the first time!), and am working to add more links to the index and to organise it. — BadCatMan (talk) 02:29, April 27, 2014 (UTC)

The Gathering

Nominated by
BadCatMan
Disclaimer
I wrote this.
Pros
  • The wiki's first comics page, for the first FR comic. It's completely indexed with articles made or started for most topics, fully detailed, and has an introduction and background material. — BadCatMan
  • Looks great. We need to get this on the front page.
Cons
Requests
  • How are the comics organized? Would a Table of Contents be useful? Are there titles to the different sections? It's conceivable that we might start referencing comic content by section title like we reference Dragon magazine articles. Just a thought. — Moviesign
  • Can you make the comics link on the front page be blue instead of red? :) — Moviesign

Discussion

Bumping this. We need a few more (like 3) so this can update every 2 months. —Moviesign (talk) 16:31, January 1, 2014 (UTC)

I've submitted the City of the Spider Queen partly to try out a new format for sourcbook article and also to help get the number of article up. Hope this is what you had in min Moviesign. I noticed Realms of the Dead is a featured article too so I've post this over there also.--Eli the Tanner (talk) 15:12, January 3, 2014 (UTC)
