{{Forum post|Write your message here!|~~~~}}

This thread is for nominating and discussing Featured sources. Before submitting a source article for featured status, please check that it meets each and every criterion here. Interested users should leave their vote by including their signature (~~~~) in the appropriate field (For or Against) for that nominee and update the Vote field accordingly. A source article that reaches at least 3 votes in favor, including one administrator vote, will be promoted to featured source status. When approved, please add it to the Featured Sources queue template and assign the featured source the FS banner.

Sources that have been approved are listed here, and those that were not approved are listed here.

Pros
  • This meets all requirements given on the Featured sources page -Arodp88 (talk) 19:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • There are no red links in the index or the article, with the exception of some of the real-world artists -Arodp88 (talk) 19:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • The index is complete (the only things which were not included in the index were instances in which the OU and omniscient author uses real-world animals to explain or illustrate a point: for example, the sentence "The faces of aarakocras resemble a cross between those of parrots and eagles" was not taken to be an appearance of either parrots or eagles) -Arodp88 (talk) 19:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • The index is organized based on what is or is not an actionable sourcebook entry (for example, characters are indexed as refonly unless their crunch or at least level is provided, and similarly, spells are refonly unless their game information is included) -Arodp88 (talk) 19:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • We do not currently have any monster compendiums/manuals or 3rd edition sourcebooks on the list of Featured Sources -Arodp88 (talk) 19:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • Very well written and indexed! I'll definitely be 'for' this once we get a few things cleaned up (see below). Grand job! ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Cons
  • Could show off the features of the wiki: maybe some images to spruce it up? ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
    • Take a look at existing features source (see Menzoberranzan); images help divide up the index ~ Possessed Priest (talk)
    • No gallery with images of the sourcebook (back cover) for completeness ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
      • Good call. I've added in-text and gallery images, including the back cover. I've prioritized images that feature multiple monsters. As a side note, all images that were on the Wizards.com gallery are already on the wiki, so the images of the book are also fully indexed. -Arodp88 (talk) 23:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • Some missing links in the text prior to index, e.g., "eaters of magic" refer to nishruu as [[[[nishruu]]|eaters of magic]] ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
    • Linked that and a couple others that made sense. -Arodp88 (talk) 23:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • Missing some topics to be indexed, some important and specific, e.g. "outsiders", others generic. ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
    • Note, for outsiders, these are not just creature types but are referred to in text, e.g. "Phaerimms also enjoy summoning outsiders" ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
      • I've indexed all creature types, and tried to make a distinction between appearances and refonlys for them.
  • The Amazon product listings are generally depreciated, let's remove that ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
    • I've opted to comment out the Amazon template since I don't see anything on the template documentation that says this has been officially depreciated. -Arodp88 (talk) 23:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • In this case, author and artist credits (interior artists, etc), should be in the infobox (field: inter_artist, etc). The credit section is generally for programmers, sound effects teams, 3D support units, testers, etc, of video games that aren't standard for a typical D&D source. ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
    • Good to know. -Arodp88 (talk) 23:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
  • Needs another proofread, as there are some formatting issues, e.g. "siangham• sling • spiked chain" ~ Possessed Priest (talk) 20:14, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
