I don't know if this has ever happened before, but I just noticed that this week we've had over 1 million views and over 1,000 edits. The mind boggles. Thanks all you fine contributors! Go FRW!

Woohoo! But, to be fair, it's probably all due to a few really busy editors. :)

Even busy editors can't rack up that many views in a week. You'd have to view 1,000 pages for each edit. :-D But I'm sure they helped push us to a new record.

Quick stats for the first week of 2018, Jan 1–7, are 1.2M views and 1.6K edits. Holy smoke.

It's only going to get higher as the film draws nearer (Gods willing). It would be cool to have some core areas better covered in anticipation of that.

I mean core Realms things that might appear in the film, things that people might look up on the wiki after they return from the cinema. For example, I have a feeling Undermountain might play a role in some upcoming releases (if not the film itself), so I plan (hope) to make that article my big project for this year, very much inspired by your Khôltar project.

We get a few hits off Stranger Things: in the week when Season 2 came out, we received 37,590 visits to the mind flayer page, which was far above those visiting the Main Page (a slightly increased 11,458), so most came through a Google search, a few stayed to explore.

Last week, we have 9,830 visits to the Main Page. Assuming those were mostly fans with the wiki bookmarked, unless they each looked at ~122 pages (a few active editors might approach it, but general readers would not), they wouldn't account for the 1.2 million views. I estimate we still get a signification proportion of hits through Google searches, where the FRW is a consistently high-ranked search result for D&D topics. So, people use Google to search the wiki and the Main Page isn't a priority except for dedicated wiki fans. I suspect even famous wikis like Wikipedia and Wookieepedia have the same patterns, however.

The unnamed Dungeons & Dragons movie page gains only fitful interest, with only 289 and 318 views over the last two weeks, and really only after there's been news. So far, it's a mild curiosity. But, if and when it happens in 2021, good or bad, it will be a beast bringing heavy traffic, whether it's set in the Realms or not.

I'd thought about what we should do to lay groundwork for that, whether to develop some pages or maybe even contact a representative for fan site resources, or provide some research and background lore (my dreams of entering Hollywood, sigh). It seemed premature, however, and now the whole shebang has switched studios, so who knows where it will be set?

Contacting the film company wouldn't be a bad idea, if only to say, "Hey, FYI, we exist and could be helpful to writers."
