Zerak and I were discussing the current banner image at the top of the wiki (unless you're using the old Monobook theme where it won't be displayed) and how it has been compressed and squashed, so I decided it was time we changed our images to something a little more exciting. I am proposing Image:Wiki-Fflar.png and Image:Wiki_wide-Fflar.png as replacements for the banner image at the top on the default theme and the square image in the top left on the old Monobook theme. What do you think?

Monobook here :) I'm loving the font and I've always liked the Fflar vs. Aulmpiter picture. IMO the yugoloths don't get enough representation in the whole fiend category. However, I'm not liking the wide version (although I won't be seeing in it as I'm sticking with monobook). Just the fact that it's someone with his back turned to the viewer, about to swing a sword at something out of frame.

Good point, Hash, the wide one looks like good Fflar is hacking at a fireball sorta :p - but that's still endlessly much better than the current placeholder banner.

Any thoughts on improving the wide version? The ones you're seeing are double size, so when they're scaled for the site, they will be a lot smaller. Putting the whole Fflar / Aulmpiter picture on there might make it too small to see properly. The image choice was based on having something non-obvious (as in, not Drizzt or Elminster) but something iconic (the Fall of Myth Drannor). Purely out of interest, the font is "Splendors" which is a clone of "Mason." The font Wizards use on their own Realms products is believed to be custom, but is almost certainly also based on "Mason."

*bump!*

I really like the first one, I think it's perfect for the main logo. As for the second, perhaps we could use a different image as the basis for it. Might I suggest this one of a War Wizard ('m a big fan of William O'Connor

's style). Also I would ask that these be put in the Monobook theme if that is at all possible because I as well am still using that version.

The first logo (the square-ish one) is used on Monobook and the second (the wider one) is used on the "modern" Wikia themes (like Quartz and smoke). As far as I know, there's no provision for both images to be used on one theme. Would it make sense to have two separate wiki logos? What would happen if we were featured again, for example? How would Wikia know which of the logos to use, and wouldn't it be confusing for all the people using the skin where the featured logo didn't appear?

I uploaded the new image, what does everyone think? :)

Any chance you can update the long thin image used on non-monobook themes? I think the vast majority of users won't see the square one because it's not on the default theme!

Done. I'm thinking the white background should be changed to transparent, as the white field doesn't go very well with things like the Gaming skin.
